National Doughnut Day

National Doughnut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of June to honour The Salvation Army ‘Lassies’ who served doughnuts to soldiers during First World War. Soon after the United States entered First World War in 1917, The  Salvation Army set up canteens/social centers that served baked goods, writing supplies and clothes mending services for soldiers.

On June 4th 2021 we are choosing to support our First Responders, Fire and Police Departments, EMS Crews, and Health Care Workers with delicious doughnuts.  If you would like to join us, please find the recipe below and tag us in your posts on social media!

It was such a blessing being able to share doughnuts with our own local heroes today. We are truly thankful for all their sacrifices and the work they do, especially amid the threat of COVID 19. We would also like to express our gratitude towards Tim Horton’s (525 University Ave, Windsor ON) for partnering with us today to help share our message and appreciation for essential workers.
