  • on November 28, 2014

The Salvation Army’s Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign, which began on November 20th, is still in need of volunteers.  Kettles are placed at retail locations throughout the City of Windsor. Volunteers are needed to stand by the kettle to greet shoppers with a smiling face and accept donations.

“We are so grateful for the many volunteers who have already helped us bring hope and dignity to our community’s most vulnerable”, says Perron Goodyear, Public Relations & Development Representative.  “This year, more than ever, we are relying on the assistance of our fellow Windsorites to help us make the Christmas season brighter for others.  Three hours of your time can have a lifelong impact.”

This year, volunteering has been made even easier.  Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to sign-up using the new on-line system at  This new system will allow volunteers to register on-line, pick their preferred location and shift, and will even send them reminders.   Those who would prefer not to use this new system can still call the Kettle Hotline at 519-971-5878 or email

“Giving Hope Today. The important work of The Salvation Army takes place every day”, says Jim Crichton, 2014 Christmas Kettle Champion. “But perhaps no single season is more important than the Christmas Kettle campaign. It is your generosity at this time of year that enables The Salvation Army to fund its caring work. Please join me in supporting The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle campaign.  It’s important to so many individuals and families – and I know you’ll feel good helping.”

The annual Christmas Kettle Campaign has been The Salvation Army’s single largest public appeal in Canada since 1906.  Without this campaign and the thousands of volunteers who make it successful, many people in need would face continuing challenges.
